About Hating Evil

Anyone familiar with Rabbi Avigdor Miller’s ideology knows well his negative views of traveling for a vacation. He always stressed that if you are fortunate to receive time off from your daily burdens you should be running very fast to the Beis HaMidrash and not some hotel somewhere. Furthermore, he frequently pointed out the abundance of opportunities to grow in Torah that exist in the large Torah cities in contrast to hick towns. Also, it is common knowledge that vacation areas (like the Catskills etc.) provide a whole family of Nisyonos that are nor present at home. Rabbi Miller also expressed explicit dissent from touring in Eretz Yisroel as a vacation activity. It is simply a waste of precious time that could be utilized for learning many pages of Gemarah.

Lately, I have noticed that it has become a massive custom for young Jewish couples, especially newlyweds, to come to Eretz Yisroel during the summer Bein HaZmanim. From where in the world did this strange Minhag arise? Besides the time factor mentioned above, there is another point: Eretz Yisroel is not a tourist attraction. It is a Holy place to serve Hashem. Many Americans come to Eretz Yisroel and add to the problems here, not the solution. For example: The Kossel. The Kossel is a mourning site, where we should be morning and crying over past and present, bodily and spiritual, destructions of Klall Yisroel at the hands of Goiyim as well as Jewish enemies. What transpires, however? Many tourists think that the Kossel is some sort of photo studio to take pictures with their friends and buddies. It’s like going to your grandpa’s grave and taking pictures of yourself smiling while leaning on the Matzevah!

I am not saying that we don’t need times for refreshment and renewal. Life sometimes is very stressful and the need to change the atmosphere is sometimes very legitimate. But let’s utilize the summer as real authentic Jews who think before they go anywhere and let us plan a vacation which will truly bring us closer to Hashem and Torah learning.

Our last post regarding Yad VaShem provoked many a reader. Some responded with great hostility. Actually, that was our intention. We want our readers to be shocked, to awaken them from their deep slumber inside a thick sleeping bag of non-Authentic Jewish Ideology.

As a continuation of that post we are honored to present some profound teachings of Rabbi Avigdor Miller ZAL. We quote:

The entire Nazi hatred and murder campaign was miraculously senseless.  The German Jews were educated, wealthy, and intensely loyal to their “fatherland”.  Hitler could have benefited immensely from their chemists, physicists, engineers, medicine specialists, and financiers.  His madness in destroying this tremendous reservoir of genius and power is understood only when viewed in the light of G-D’s guidance of history.  The puzzling violence and spiritual enthusiasm of the famous Jew haters is a mysterious phenomenon which was inspired for Divine purposes.  The great destruction, then, deserves to be studied carefully.

Remember, however, that European Jewry contained some of the choicest elements of our people and even the worst European Jews were not only immeasurably superior to the best Germans, but they were far superior to any nation or people of the world.

But because so many European Jews fell into the error of admiring and emulating the Germans, G-D allowed the Germans to do their utmost to show whom who they really are. Those Jews who had begun to ignore the Soul and in imitation of the gentiles devoted their efforts solely to the needs of the body were made to see how their efforts ended in the worst ruination of Jewish bodies in history; whereas their fathers who had given their best efforts for the benefit of the Soul, had their bodies preserved in relative peace and well being.

It is as clear as day that because Jews had forsaken their Jewish identity it was therefore being imposed upon them by force.

From Berlin came the flood of assimilation. Reform and other forms of disloyalty to the Torah corrupted most of European Jewry in a manner never before seen in history, and from Berlin came a flood of hatred which perpetrated upon Jews a destruction never before seen in history.

Because the German Jews spiritually destroyed their own synagogues by Reform and by imitation of the churches, the Germans wracked and burned the synagogues on the crystal night.

German Jews bore gentile names before the Nazis restored the Jewish identity by issuing a decree that every Jew must add the word ‘Israel’ to his name in every Jewess the name ‘Sarah’.

Because so many imitated the gentiles and refused to rest on the seventh day, they were forced to work seven days a week at killing labor.

Because they sent their children to non- Jewish or secular schools and no longer gave their children to Torah study, the Nazis were allowed to destroy the Jewish children entirely.

Because for the first time in Jewish history woman had ceased to cover their hair, the Germans shaved them bald in the death camp.

Because the virtues of chaste dress and behavior were diminished in imitation of the gentiles, they were marched naked to the gas chambers and the Jewish woman were subjected to every barbarous indecency before they were killed.

Because they had attempted to mingle with the gentiles and be lost among them, they were forced to wear a star of David and were shut up in ghettos before being killed.

Because they had so revered the Physicians, especially the German specialists, they were subjected to malicious experiments and the torments German Physicians imposed upon them.

Because they forsook the laws of the Torah, they were subjected to the Nuremburg Laws which deprived them of all rights which other men enjoyed.

In an era which such discriminatory laws and ghettos have long been unknown, this sudden throwback to medieval times was truly a startling phenomenon.

It was all an open miracle: The sudden rise of a poor laborer to tremendous power over nations, his supernatural hatred for Jews, his fatal blunder of reopening a second front against Russia whereby he accomplished only the massacre of the Jewish population, and all the other details of this frightful miracle.

All this deserves careful study just as the case of Purim is studied in careful detail!

Here we have a true and Authentic Great Rabbi informing us how we should view the destruction of European Jewry! Let us harken to his words!

For some strange reason it has become a custom, even for Authentic Jews, to visit the Yad VaShem Museum here in Jerusalem, during the three weeks of mourning for the destruction of the Beis HaMikdash which will begin tomorrow the 17^th of Tamuz.

This custom is very problematic.  There are many reasons why Authentic, G-D fearing Jews should always stay away from museums and other public institutions that are run by non-Torah Jews.

However the most dangerous possible result of a visit to Yad VaShem is that it could dent one’s Authentic Jewish Ideology.

We must know that the Authentic Jewish Outlook regarding the Holocaust is exactly the way Rabbi Avigdor Miller taught us again and again, that the Holocaust was a punishment to the Jews of Europe for departing from Torah life [as well as a protective motion to halt their downfall.]

I find it hard to believe that such a theme is promoted at Yad VaShem or any other Holocaust museum. They will explain and present, at great length, the socio-economic reasons and causes of the Holocaust as well as the political ones, and so on. However, they certainly will not reveal the great truth that Hashem sent Hitler and his henchmen to fulfill the great prophecy predicted in the Torah that “if you will not adhere to the words of the Torah your bodies will be food for the birds of the sky to eat”.

Seeing such a graphic presentation of the horrors of the Holocaust without correct interpretation in real time could seriously damage ones correct Jewish ideology, that itself being a terrible sin.

Another important point to remember is the Yad VaShem Museum is a great hall of hypocrisy. Today we know how much the Zionist movement and their officers like Ben Gurion, Weizman, Greenbaum and others (may their names be erased forever) actually assisted in the genocide of European Jewry. New and disturbing information comes to light almost every year on this subject. That THEY should have the audacity to construct a Holocaust “Memorial” is simply unheard of. Would you visit a neo-Nazi Holocaust “Memorial”?

Rabbi Dov Wiesmandel ZATZAL, and others could have saved millions of Jewish souls had it not been for the Zionists and their leaders who turned their back on them.

We are all suffering from the great recession in the US today. Much money which fine people worked very hard for has gone down the drain. Each politician is sure he has the magical solution to the myriad of problems the economy faces. However while quick fixes like stimulus packages might work in the near future, the genius is to produce a solution which will not boomerang 20 years from now.

We all know too well how many people are on anti-depressants. It’s common knowledge today. People are depressed. Afraid. Gloomy.

An authentic Jew cannot be gloomy or down. It’s simply impossible. If he is indeed so, it is only to the degree which he has failed to integrate the great authentic Torah values that Chazal have taught us.

If a person really comprehended what Chazal teach us that “How wonderful is man who was created and informed that he was created in the image of Hashem”, could he be gloomy?

Hashem has bestowed upon us so many kindlinesses that if we would talk about them day and night for an entire life, it wouldn’t be sufficient.

Hashem obviously knew it was very good before He created it. And it follows that He knew it was all very good after it was created. So what does is this passage coming to teach us? Reb Avigdor Miller ZTZAL explains that this teaches us the we must emulate Hashem and look at all He has done and realize that it is all very good. This explanation has very far reaching ramifications. However, at least when Hashem gives us the great gift of rain we shouldn’t call it “bad weather” like the idiots do. Rain is life to this world, so why is a rainy day a term for a gloomy one. Rain is beautiful and wonderful.

Rain has another purpose which I understood this Shabbos, as Baruch Hashem it was pouring most of the Holy Day here in Jerusalem. Rain keeps the bums (as well as “bumeses”) off the streets. Usually, the Geulah area is packed with low personalities during Shabbos, making a Shabbos stroll in these areas very disconcerting. However, thanks to the rain, they were nowhere to be seen.
